Volleyball Gains 3-0 Sweep in Season Finale at Lincoln (PA)


 

Goldey-Beacom concluded its 2021 season with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-16) sweep over Lincoln (PA) University on Thursday at Lincoln Univ., PA. 
 
The Lightning in the first set gained an edge, capitalizing on a 6-1 service aces awarded along with a 2-8 attack error advantage committed by the Lions in the 25-17 first set win.  
 
In set two, both teams were evenly matched in a close 25-23 result in favor of the Lightning, awarded on a 5-1 service ace differential.

Goldey-Beacom in the third set completed the sweep with a .250 hitting percentage, landing 12 kills and four errors on 32 attacks. Lincoln (PA.) committed five errors and notched a .065 percentage.

Senior Kirra Barrett (North East, MD) pounded a team high eight kills. 

Junior Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) recorded six kills, a .400 hitting percentage and two service aces. 
 
Syrdahl stands at 189 career blocks, keeping her fifth in team annals and her 637 career kills has her 10th. 
 
Junior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) landed seven kills on a .357 percentage to go with five service aces.  Her 985 career kills are third in team history. 
 
Senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) excelled in her final match of the season, closing with 24 digs that has her sixth with 1,181.  Freshman Rylen Carroll (Monroe, OH) finished with 20 assists for GBC (9-20, 4-14 CACC).

Jaida Lumpkin notched 18 assists, Kaiya Lewis pounded 13 kills, Mariah Webster recorded 14 digs for the Lions (1-23, 1-14).

The Lightning had a growing season with a young squad. Roman Concepcion concluding this season now holds the Goldey-Beacom's single-season digs record of 660 and is sixth in career digs at 1,181, moving ahead of Mackenzie Wilson (2012-15). Goldey-Beacom looks forward to next season.
