Goldey-Beacom clinched its seventh straight berth into the CACC Tournament on Saturday after capturing a 4-0 victory over Bloomfield in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup in Bloomfield, NJ.
The Lighting took a 1-0 lead in the first half when freshman Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.) netted a goal on an assist from senior Kelly Mejia (State College, PA).
Goldey-Beacom did not let up there, finding its way in net at the 55th minute behind Lexi Coppola (Turnersville, NJ) scoring off an assist from fellow freshman Angela Lee (Warren, R.I.). This extended the lead to 2-0.
Ruggeri in the 62nd minute added her 11th goal of the season, off an assist from Lee. This marked Ruggeri's third brace of the season and her 11 goals are one off reaching the program's single-season top 10 list.
The Lightning did not end there, adding a final goal in the 86th minute from Coppola, her sixth goal of the season, on an assist by senior Kiera Young (Aberdeen, MD) leaving the Bears scoreless in the 4-0 victory. It also was Coppola's third brace of the year.
Sophomore Noel Talbot (Westminster, Md.) recorded a single save for the Lightning
