Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Drops Hard-Fought Match, 3-1, at Felician

Goldey-Beacom staved off four match points and once again provided a spirited effort, but in the end was dealt a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (14-25, 13-25, 26-24, 25-23) at Felician in Rutherford, NJ.

Junior Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) in the third set played like a woman on a mission, taking over with nine kills to help the Lightning pound 16 versus just two errors for a .326 percentage.  Her kill at 24-24 helped her squad salvage one match point.  Freshman Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) ended the set with four kills.

Goldey-Beacom in the fourth set looked in command with an 18-11 lead before Felician went on a 13-2 run to open a 24-20 cushion and gain four match points.  The Lightning (7-17, 3-11 CACC) used strong defense to force three Golden Falcons' attack errors to stay in the contest, but Hannah Chiswick got a kill on the fifth match point to end it.

Syrdahl again played great at the net with 14 kills and a .387 hitting percentage.  It is the sixth time this season she has notched at least 14 kills and now is at 600 career, just 12 away from reaching the College's career top 10 list.

Nanouski had 12 kills and 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the season to go with a .312 percentage and freshman Rylen Carroll (Monroe, OH) amassed 35 assists and 11 digs for her third double-double of the year.  Senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) recorded 29 digs, junior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) notched 11 kills and senior Courtney Bublitz (North East, MD) added nine digs.

Maddie Sloan was tough to stop with 22 kills and a .381 percentage for the Golden Falcons (9-16, 7-6).  Chiswick notched 17 kills, Miquela Martinez recorded 27 assists and Alondra Diaz Sanchez amassed 21 digs.

Goldey-Beacom next Tuesday is back on the road to visit University of the Sciences.  Match time is at 7:00 pm.
