Goldey-Beacom exuded dominance as a unit on Wednesday, taking a 5-1 victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas College in a non-conference matchup in Sparkill, NY.
The Lightning in the third minute took the lead when junior Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, Del.) scored on an assist from freshman Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.), Immediato's seventh goal of the season (1-0). The Lightning benefited from an own goal in the 35th minute for the 2-0 lead.
The Spartans found their way in net at the 36th minute with a goal from Ileana Santiago assisted by Merari Rodriguez for a 2-1 margin.
Goldey–Beacom stayed in control in the second period, finding a 51st-minute goal from freshman Angela Lee (Warren, R.I.), assisted by freshman Lexi Coppola (Turnersville, N.J.). It was Lee's fourth goal of the season and made it a 3-1 contest.
Senior Taylor Owen (Pittsburgh, PA.) netted one in off an assist from Ruggeri in the 59th minute, Owen's seventh goal of the season. Owen was recently named the CACC Player of the Week.
The Lightning rounded out scoring with a goal from Ruggeri in the 76th minute, assisted by sophomore Hanna Clarke (Earleville, MD.), Ruggeri's ninth goal of the season.
Sophomore Noel Talbot (Westminster, Md.) recorded four saves for the Lightning.
Goldey-Beacom travels to Bloomfield, N.J. on Saturday to face Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup starting at 1:30 PM.
