Goldey-Beacom battled in a 2-1 defeat against regionally ranked West Chester on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field.
The Golden Rams, ranked seventh in Super Region 1, took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when Kresstoph Whittick received a lead pass from Trevor Looby and found the back of the net.
The Lightning fired back in the 28th minute when freshman Patrick Short (Georgetown, Del.) netted a goal to tie the game,1-1. It was Short's fourth goal of the season.
West Chester found its way in the net in the 71st minute with a goal by Jack Dieffenderfer on a cross assist from Landon Wenger for the 2-1 margin.
Freshman Zander Omans (Camden, Del.) recorded five saves for the Lightning.
Goldey-Beacom travels to Bloomfield, N.J. on Saturday to face Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup starting at 3:45 PM.
