Women’s Soccer Triumphs in 7-1 Senior Day Victory Over Felician U.

Goldey-Beacom shined on its Senior Day in a 7-1 victory over Felician University on Saturday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup on Sawin Field.

The Lightning had several contributors to the victory. Senior Taylor Owen (Pittsburgh, PA) lifted the Lightning over Felician early on, scoring in the 28th minute on a cross from right side from junior Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, Del.) for the 1-0 lead. Owen followed that up with another goal in the 29th minute off a miss play from the center back, assisted by freshman Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.) for the 2-0 lead at the end of the first half. Owen has scored six goals this season.

Goldey-Beacom continued the surge after a 54th minute goal by freshman Lexi Coppola (Turnersville, NJ) netted off a lead pass from 20 yards out from the right side assisted by Owen, extending the lead 3-0. Coppola's third goal of the season.

The Golden Falcons found their way in net at the 62nd minute on a cross goal by Carlie Koziol assisted by Katinka Ummels, 3-1.

The Lightning did not let up, however, finding their way in net once again in the 74th minute behind Ruggeri's goal on a cross from Immediato, 4-1. Ruggeri's eighth goal of the season. In the 80th minute, freshman Angela Lee (Warren, R.I) buried one in the nest on a cross from Coppola, Lee's third of the season, 4-1.

The Lightning added two more goals to exhaust the golden Falcons, in the 88th minute second goal of the game for Coppola, assisted on a lead pass from freshman Paulimar Coll (Grantville, PA), Coppola's fourth goal of the season, 6-1. An 89th minute goal by Immediato (sixth of season) on a cross assisted by Owen punched their 7-1 final score victory.

Sophomore Noel Talbot (Westminster, MD) recorded two saves for the Lightning.

Goldey-Beacom travels to Sparkill, NY on Wednesday to face Saint Thomas Acquinas College in a non-conference matchup starting at 2:30 PM.
