Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Rolls to 5-0 Rout of Georgian Court

Freshman Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, DE) had two goals and two assists with junior Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE) also scoring twice for Goldey-Beacom, which established an early tempo and cruised to a 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Georgian Court at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning in the second minute scored the only goal they needed.  Ruggeri continued her solid debut season with a great pass to Immediato, who buried one above goalkeeper Alyssa Dias.

GBC less than five minutes later used the same combo for a 2-0 margin.  Ruggeri again had the ball and fed another solid pass that Immediato drilled inside the left post for her fourth goal of the season.

Immediato now is tied for ninth in program history with 55 career points and 10th outright with 19 goals.  It also was her first brace of the season and third career.

Ruggeri then got in the goal column in the 25th minute, receiving a feed from senior Taylor Owen (Pittsburgh, PA) and putting one inside the left post for a 3-0 margin.

Owen then buried a 20-yard shot over the goalkeeper in the 29th minute for a 4-0 lead, which carried into intermission.  Goldey-Beacom held a 13-1 shots edge at the break, ending with a 25-3 margin.

Ruggeri in the 64th minute closed the scoring with a shot inside the right post for her team-leading seventh goal of the season, capping her personal-best six-point game and her second brace in the last three contests.

Ruggeri now is first in the league with 19 points, first with seven goals and tied for second with five assists.  She has been named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll each of the last two weeks, in addition to her September 7 nod as the conference's Rookie of the Week.

Owen closed with seven shots and Ruggeri added four for the Lightning (5-6, 3-4 CACC), who have won three of their last four outings.

Dias ended with eight saves for the Lions (3-8, 2-4).

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Friday at Dominican (NY) as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  The women's game is at 11:00 am, followed by the men's contest at 2:00 pm.
