Baseball Drops a Pair at No. 10 Millersville

Goldey-Beacom could not build off the momentum of Saturday's doubleheader split against 10th-ranked Millersville, falling both times in Millersville, PA by scores of 10-1 and 6-0 to end the four-game series.

Millersville in game one got all of the offense it would need with five runs in the second inning to open the scoring.  Manning Brookens and Corey Woodcock each had RBI singles in the inning before Nick Mancuso ripped a two-run single.

Senior Tevin Thomas (Dover, DE) provided the offense for the Lightning with a solo home run in the fourth, his fifth career long ball.  Senior Ivan Solis (La Chorrera, Panama) and sophomore Marshall Awtry (Hockessin, DE) also has a hit.

The Marauders in game two scored five times in the last of the fourth to open the scoring.  Mancuso was the biggest culprit with a two-run double in addition to Jimmy Cain and Eric Callahan getting RBI singles.

Solis and senior Cole Collins (Laurel, DE) each recorded a single for the Lightning, who gained a split of Saturday's doubleheader with a 7-1 triumph in game one.

Alex Mykut was the story for the Marauders (10-3), striking out 11 over six innings with just one hit and one walk.  Cain, Jimmy Losh and Luke Trainer had two hits apiece.

Goldey-Beacom (6-6), which this week received votes in the NCBWA East Region Poll, is home Saturday for a doubleheader against Bloomsburg.  First pitch is at noon.
