Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Dealt 3-0 Loss by Fifth-Ranked Bloomsburg

Goldey-Beacom held fifth-ranked Bloomsburg off the scoreboard for most of the match, but was breached for three second-half goals and was handed a 3-0 loss at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Both teams in the first half had trouble generating offense, thanks to some strong defense on both sides.  The Huskies owned a 6-3 shots edge over the first 45 minutes.

But Bloomsburg got on the board in the 61st minute.  Lauren Hoelke put a ball inside the box that got away and Nicole Varano put it home for her third tally of the season and a 1-0 lead.

Jamie Marsico then tallied the last two goals for the final, both off feeds from Jessica Milligan.  Marsico converted a 12-yard shot in the 73rd minute and then put a one touch on a long ball in the 79th minute.

Jenna Hawkins closed with four saves for the Huskies (2-0).

Junior Ali Henriquez (Jersey City, NJ) had three shots and freshman Noel Talbot (Marriottsville, MD) totaled three saves for the Lightning (0-1-1).

Goldey-Beacom is off until next Saturday, when it visits Daemen for a 1:00 pm match.
