Volleyball Handed Season-Opening Loss at West Chester

Goldey-Beacom battled against a perennial power, but was dealt a 3-0 season-opening loss (16-25, 12-25, 19-25) by West Chester in West Chester, PA.

The first set witnessed the Lightning (0-1) hold their own most of the way before the Golden Rams pulled away late.  Junior Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) had three kills and four digs in the set, sophomore Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) notched three kills and two aces with Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) getting seven assists.

Unfortunately, West Chester took over from there.  The home side owned a 14-7 kills edge in the second set with a .343 hitting percentage and then took the third despite being held to just a .100 percentage.

Przywara closed with 11 kills and eight digs, moving into fifth place in Goldey-Beacom history with 757 career kills.  Spendlove dished 20 assists, junior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) amassed 19 digs with Boyce getting six kills.

Julia Vreeswyk notched 11 kills, Grace Whitney had 10, Jillian Borgerding totaled 35 assists with Shaye Whiteman getting 19 digs for the Golden Rams (1-0).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is back at West Chester for the second and final day of Ramfest.  GBC faces the host at 10:00 am and Pace at noon.
