Volleyball Battles to the End in 3-1 Loss at Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom played one of its best matches of the young season and left Philadelphia with a tough 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 16-25, 29-31) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Chestnut Hill.

After dropping a tough first set, the Lightning came back in the second with 14 kills, a .238 hitting percentage and held the Griffins to just .098.  Sophomore Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) had seven kills in the set and junior Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) added five.

Chestnut Hill in the third set went on a tear with a 15-7 kills edge to go with a .394 percentage and just two hitting errors.

The fourth set could not have been more of a painful setback with the Lightning fighting off a match point, but unable to convert on five set points.  Boyce notched eight kills in the set for Goldey-Beacom (4-7, 1-2 CACC), which pounded 13 kills in the stanza but allowed Chestnut Hill to get 14.

Boyce overall pounded 23 kills with Przywara getting 14 and 15 digs for her sixth straight double-double.  Sophomore Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) recorded 39 assists and 18 digs for her third double-double this season and junior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) added 19 digs.

Corrine Kalala notched 13 kills, Reily Byxbee had 11 and 13 digs with Henielys Ramos getting 25 assists for the Griffins (4-7, 1-2).
