Volleyball Solid in 3-1 Victory Over Wilmington

Goldey-Beacom battled against perennial-rival Wilmington (DE) and in the end came up with a huge 3-1 (27-25, 8-25, 25-13, 25-23) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning won a thrilling first set that went back and forth multiple times with the Wildcats only getting a .086 hitting percentage.  The visitors dominated the second set to the tune of a .174 hitting percentage.

Goldey-Beacom then turned it on in the third set with a 15-8 kills edge and a stunning .519 hitting percentage.  Junior Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) was one of the stars with seven kills in the set.

The fourth set looked like it would be the last with GBC opening a 16-7 lead, but Wilmington closed it to 20-19 and had the momentum.  However the Lightning (4-6, 1-1 CACC) finally ended it, getting an ace from Przywara for a 24-21 lead and later benefitting from a service error on match point for the winner.

Przywara again played great with 23 kills and 15 digs for her seventh double-double this season and fifth in a row.  Sophomore Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) pounded 13 kills, fellow sophomore Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) had 40 assists and junior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) recorded 17 digs.

This also marks the fourth time in the last seven matches Goldey-Beacom has upended Wilmington.

Mandy Behiels had 12 kills and 11 digs, Rebecca Rawlinson notched 10 kills, Sarah Couch dished 36 assists and Elly Collins added 17 digs for the Wildcats (8-5, 0-1).

Goldey-Beacom on Thursday hits the road to battle Chestnut Hill.  First serve in Philadelphia, PA is at 7:00 pm.
