Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer’s Winning Streak Ends With 1-0 Loss at Bridgeport

A valiant effort by Goldey-Beacom did not go as planned as the visitors surrendered a goal with roughly a half-hour remaining in a tough 1-0 loss at Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT.

The first half saw Bridgeport own most of the possession, but Goldey-Beacom played solid defense by clearing many balls just inside the six-yard box.  The Knights owned a 10-3 shots edge at the break.

The Knights broke the ice in the 61st minute to grab a 1-0 lead.  A giveaway at midfield led to a Bridgeport possession and a solid pass from Hannes Nilsson found Leandro Avila open in front as he rifled one home.

Bridgeport (2-3) ended with an 18-8 shots advantage, but could not take advantage of any of its six corner kicks.  Avila closed with seven shots and Carlos Tofern amassed two saves.

Sophomore Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) attempted three shots and Cole Lewis (Middletown, DE) came up with seven saves, tying his career high from Saturday at Shippensburg.  Coimbra earlier this week was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll and Lewis was tabbed the league's Goalkeeper of the Week.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Saturday at Caldwell as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  Please note the men's game is first at 11:00 am, followed by the women's contest at 1:30 pm.
