Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Gets Emphatic 3-0 Victory at Shippensburg

Goldey-Beacom got its usual solid challenge from Shippensburg and left with a big 3-0 triumph in Shippensburg, PA.

Goldey-Beacom opened the scoring in the 33rd minute thanks to senior Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) once again delivering.  Junior Sergi Varona (Barcelona, Spain) sent a cross into the box that Jaramillo put home for his first goal of the season.

The Lightning kept pounding away in the second half and were rewarded with an own goal, bouncing off the head of a Raiders' defender in the 49th minute for a 2-0 margin.

Goldey-Beacom then got another tally the old-fashioned way for the final.  Jaramillo this time was on the passing end along with sophomore Josh Moody (Townsend, DE), setting up senior Levi Maruca (Downingtown, PA) for the latter's first goal of the season and fifth career.

Jaramillo finally cracked the school's record book in what has been an incredible four-year run.  He now is tied for 10th in school history with 36 career points and is just outside the top 10 with 12 goals in addition to 12 assists.

The battle saw the Raiders post a 13-12 shots edge, but it was the Lightning (2-2) who had more quality scoring chances than it appeared in the stats.  Jaramillo had five shots and junior Cole Lewis (Middletown, DE) totaled seven saves.

Cory Ferguson recorded two shots on goal and Bradley Brickman made three saves for the Raiders (0-1-1).

Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday plays at Bridgeport in a 3:00 pm match.
