Baseball Splits a Pair with Dominican (NY)

Goldey-Beacom splits with Dominican (NY) winning game one 9-6 and falling in game two 8-5 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Pomona, NY.

In game one, Goldey-Beacom went up early in the top of the first inning when Ivan Solis (La Chorrera, Panama) reached on a fielder's choice allowing for Justin Hill (Seaford, Del.) to score.

Dominican (NY) quickly equalized the game in the bottom of the first inning when Brian Sanders hit an RBI single to left field.

The Lightning regained the lead when Mason Maxwell (Newfield, N.J.) hit a double RBI homerun in the top of the second inning. Goldey-Beacom had a 3-1 lead over Dominican (NY).

The Chargers continued to battle closing the lead to one with a single RBI double to right center field by Justin Decker.

In the top of the fourth inning Brandon Abdul (Old Bridge, N.J.) hit a single RBI to left field and scored off an error by the catcher giving the Lightning a 4-2 lead.

Tevin Thomas (Dover, Del.) hit a single RBI homerun and Abdul hit a double RBI double to right center to give Goldey-Beacom an 8-2 lead.

The Chargers continued to battle adding three more runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning.

Hill added another single RBI homerun for Goldey-Beacom in the top of the ninth. The Lightning took game one 9-6 over the Chargers.

Anthony DiMartino (Sicklerville, N.J. ) (1-6) pitched eight innings with seven strike outs and only allowed six runs. Bailey Spence (Newark, Del.) (S, 1) pitched one inning with two strike outs and only allowed one hit.

Thomas went 2-for-3 with one run and Maxwell went 2-for-4 with two runs for Goldey-Beacom in game one.

In game two, Goldey-Beacom took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Hill hit a single RBI homerun to left field.

Dominican (NY), ranked ninth in the East Region, answered at the bottom of the first inning when Decker hit a double RBI single to right field giving the Chargers a 2-1 lead.

Goldey-Beacom continued to fight in the top of the second inning when Cole Collins (Laurel, Del.) hit a double RBI single to left field. Collins also hit an RBI single up the middle in the top of the fourth to put the Lightning up 4-2.

Sanders hit a sacrifice fly to right field which allowed for Birian Rotella to score in the bottom of the fourth for Dominican (NY).

Goldey-Beacom added another run to their lead in the top of the sixth when Hill hit an RBI single up the middle to give the Lightning a 5-3 lead.

The Chargers battled back in the bottom of the sixth scoring five runs to win game two 8-5.

Hill went 2-for-4 with one run and Zach Roseman (Wilmington, Del.) went 2-for-3 with two runs for Goldey-Beacom in game two.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Wednesday for a doubleheader against Post at noon in Hockessin, DE.
