Game Recap: Baseball |

Ivan Solis Plays Hero for Baseball in Split vs. University of the Sciences

Junior Ivan Solis (La Chorrera, Panama) was the 12th-inning hero for Goldey-Beacom in his team's 6-5 game-one victory over University of the Sciences before the squad was dealt a 10-5 loss in the nightcap at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.

Sophomore Trent Hearn (Bethel, DE) led off the 12th inning for the Lightning with a single, stole second and stayed there after senior Brandon Abdul (Old Bridge, NJ) was hit by a pitch.  But he was brought home was Solis singled through the left side to end the second-longest game in program history.

GBC and Jefferson played a 13-inning tilt a season ago.

Hearn, Abdul, Solis, sophomore Jeff Gillis (Hockessin, DE) and freshman Mason Maxwell (Newfield, NJ) all had two hits for the Lightning.

The Lightning in game two looked in great shape with a 5-1 lead, helped in large part to junior Zach Roseman (Wilmington, DE) getting a two-run single in the third.

But the Devils plated nine runs in the seventh and final frame for the stunning triumph.  Matt McClennen had a two-run single and Nick Amicon lined a two-run double to highlight the frame.

Roseman ended his day with two hits and three RBI.

Amicon, Joe Duffy and Chris Anderson notched two hits apiece and Joseph Jachimiak (1-0) tossed the last four innings for the win.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Saturday to visit Dominican (NY) for a 1:00 pm doubleheader.  Please note this twin-bill was moved from Sunday.
