Baseball Falls Twice to Millersville

Goldey-Beacom battles hard against Millersville but is dealt a pair of losses, 4-1 and 11-6 in Philadelphia, Pa.

In game one Millersville struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Cole Friese scored an unearned run while Ben Synder got caught stealing to second. The Lightning quickly answered in the top of the third inning when senior Brandon Abdul (Old Bridge, N.J.) singled up the middle which brought in Mason Maxwell (Newfield, N.J.).

With the game tied 1-1 Millersville went on to score three more runs to win game one 4-1.

Cordell Shannon (3-1) pitched four innings with three strike outs and allowed one run.

Trevor Jump (Wilmington, Del.) pitched five innings with four strike outs an allowed four runs.

In game two Goldey-Beacom came out strong from the start. In the top of the first inning, the Lightning scored three runs. Justin Hill (Seaford, Del.) scored off a passed ball and Maurice Parson (New Castle, Del.) hit a double to left field for 2 RBI.

Millersville quickly answered in the bottom of the first scoring two runs, but the Lightning remained ahead 3-2 after the first inning. Millersville pulled ahead of Goldey-Becom in the bottom of the second inning scoring six runs.

Goldey-Beacom continued to fight scoring three more runs in the top of the third inning. Abdul scored off a fielder's choice. Cole Collins (Laurel, Del.) scored off a wild pitch and Parson hit a home run to end the top of the third. Millersville remained ahead of the Lightning 10-6 at the bottom of the third.

Millersville went on to win the game 11-6 adding one more run at the bottom of the fifth.

Parson went 3-for-4 with one run for Goldey-Beacom. Anthony DiMartino (Sicklerville, N.J.) (0-2) pitched two innings with two strike outs and allowed eight runs.

Snyder went 2-for-3 with two runs for Millersville. Noah Hartwell (1-0) pitched 1.1 innings with three strike outs and didn't allow any runs.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Friday against the University of Delaware at 3pm in Newark Delaware.
