Goldey-Beacom continued to see its student-athletes take home league awards with senior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) named first team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference a second straight year for Men's Basketball and junior Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, NJ) tabbed second team all-league for Women's Basketball.

Taite again once again proved his mettle as one of the nation's top players, consistently demonstrating his skills as a strong shooter, passer and defender.  This comes one year after he was picked the CACC Player of the Year, first team All-East Region by both the CCA and NABC in addition to making the league's All-Tournament Team.

The stats again prove this.  Taite is 53rd in the nation with 20.0 points per game, 25th with an .892 free throw percentage, 28th with 140 free throws, 67th with 1.85 steals per contest, 77th with 519 points, 78th with 35.1 minutes per game, 78th with 48 steals and 97th with a 1.96 assist-to-turnover ratio.

As a result of yet another standout campaign, Taite was on the Top 100 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award.  This honor is given to the top men's college basketball player in the country not in Division I.

Taite is first in team history with 1,755 points, first with 368 assists, first with 458 free throws, first with 205 three-pointers, first with 546 field goals and second with 21 steals.

All of this has been valuable for Goldey-Beacom (14-14, 12-7 CACC), which closed second in the CACC South Division and on Tuesday hosts Caldwell in the conference quarterfinals.  Game time is at 6:00 pm.  Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for students and seniors, and free for children under age 3.  All GBC students are admitted free with a valid ID.

The winner of Tuesday's game gets the survivor of the quarterfinal matchup between Bloomfield and Wilmington (DE).  That semifinal would be Saturday in Caldwell, NJ at either noon or 2:00 pm.

This is the third straight season the Lightning are in the CACC Tournament.  Last season, GBC won the South Division and advanced to the conference semifinals.

McGrogan the last three seasons has been a multi-faceted player who has given the team everything with her shooting, passing, aggressiveness, defense and overall team play.  She has been named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll six times this season.

McGrogan for a third straight season has her name all over the first page when it comes to statistics.  She is 60th in the country with 17.4 points per game, 23rd with 135 free throws, 71st with 4.0 assists per contest and 86th with a 1.57 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Among the program's leaders, McGrogan is sixth in team history with 238 career assists and 10th with 76 three-pointers.

Goldey-Beacom (13-15, 9-10) is in the conference tournament for the eighth time in 10 years and on Tuesday visits Dominican (NY) in the quarterfinals.  Game time is after 7:30 pm in Orangeburg, NY.  Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for students and seniors, and free for children under age 3.

The winner gets the victor of the quarterfinal contest between Jefferson and Post.  That semifinal is Saturday in Caldwell, NJ at either 5:00 pm or 7:00 pm.
