Men's and Women's Hoops Each Get a CACC Player of the Week

The final week of the basketball teams' regular season saw Goldey-Beacom junior Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, NJ) named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week and senior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) picked Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
 
McGrogan once again proved her value by averaging 27.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists over two games.  She poured in 28 points Wednesday to go with five rebounds and shot 12-for-14 from the line in Goldey-Beacom's tough loss at Georgian Court.  McGrogan then was on fire Saturday vs. Wilmington, ending with 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting and four rebounds to help GBC clinch a CACC Tournament spot in a 73-69 win.
 
McGrogan once again is having another stellar campaign at guard in helping Goldey-Beacom get back to the CACC Tournament.  She is 60th in the country with 17.4 points per game, 23rd with 135 free throws, 71st with 4.0 assists per contest and 86th with a 1.57 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
She is sixth in team history with 238 career assists and 10th with 76 three-pointers.  It is McGrogan's first nod this season as Player of the Week after being tabbed to the league's Weekly Honor Roll six times.
 
Taite went on a tear by averaging 29.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals over two games to go with shooting 29-for-29 from the line.  He exploded Saturday for 35 points on 9-of-15 shooting, went 13-for-13 from the stripe and also contributed six rebounds and four assists in Goldey-Beacom's 92-85 victory over Wilmington.  Taite on Wednesday ended with 24 points and shot 16-for-16 from the line in Goldey-Beacom's 89-52 rout of Georgian Court.
 
Again among the nation's elite, he is 53rd in the nation with 20.0 points per game, 25th with an .892 free throw percentage, 28th with 140 free throws, 67th with 1.85 steals per game, 77th with 519 points, 78th with 35.1 minutes per game, 78th with 48 steals and 97th with a 1.96 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
Taite is first in team history with 1,755 points, first with 368 assists, first with 458 free throws, first with 205 three-pointers, first with 546 field goals and second with 21 steals.  It is the third time he has been named Player of the Week this season in addition to nine picks on the league's Weekly Honor Roll.
 
The men's team (14-14, 12-7 CACC) finished second in the CACC South Division and will host Caldwell on Tuesday in the conference quarterfinals.  Game time is at 6:00 pm.  Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, free for children under age 3 and free for GBC students with a valid student ID.
 
The women's squad (13-15, 9-10) is on the road Tuesday to visit Dominican (NY) in the conference quarterfinals.  Game time in Orangeburg, NY is at 7:30 pm.
