Baseball Falls Twice to Felician

Goldey-Beacom falls twice to Felician, 9-3 and 8-4, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Lyndhurst, NJ.

In game one, Felician took the early lead with a single RBI sacrifice fly by Danny Healey Jr. in the first inning and Struble stole third and scored off a throwing error by the catcher in the third inning. Felician lead the Lightning 2-0 after the third inning.

Goldey-Beacom struck back closing the gap with a single RBI sacrifice fly by Jeff Gillis (Hockessin, Del.). Fleician now ahead 2-1 at the end of the top of the fourth inning.

Felician continued to put the pressure on Goldey-Beacom in the fourth and fifth inning scoring eight runs to put Felician up 8-1.

Despite being down, Goldey-Beacom continued to battle. In the top of the sixth inning, Connor Megginson (Harbeson, Del.) reached on a fielding error by the second baseman which allowed for Brandon Abdul (Old Bridge, N.J.) and Cole Collins (Laurel, Del.) to score. The Lightning now down 8-3 going into the eighth inning.

Felician went on to score another run to win game one 9-3.

Michael Gutierrez (3-3) pitched six innings with 11 strike outs and only gave up three runs for Felician.

Gillis went 2-for-3 in game one with one RBI for Goldey-Beacom.

Felician kept their momentum going in game two. At the bottom of the third inning. Healey hit a three RBI triple to center field. Jordan Folgers followed with a single RBI triple to put Felician up 4-0 at the bottom of the third inning.

Ivan Solis (La Chorrera, Panama) for Goldey-Beacom hit an RBI triple to left center field in the top of the fourth to start to close the gap between Felician and the Lightning.

The Lightning continued their momentum into the top if the sixth inning. Megginson hit a three RBI triple to left center to close the gap to one point. Felician still ahead 4-3 going into the bottom of the third.

Anthony Condito hit an RBI single down the right line giving Felican a bigger advantage. Healey followed with a double RBI single through the left side to put Felician ahead 8-4.

Both teams battled in game two but Felician came out on top winning 8-4. 

Abdul is on a 10-game hitting streak which is only two games away from junior Justin Hill's (Seaford, Del.) 12-game hitting streak record at Goldey-Beacom.

Goldey-Beacom takes the field again on Friday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader match up against Felician at noon in Hockessin, DE.
