Volleyball Handed 3-0 Setback by University of the Sciences



Goldey-Beacom fell victim to a second-set comeback and could not recover in a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (22-25, 27-29, 23-25) to University of the Sciences at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Devils in the second set rallied from a 19-13 deficit, ending it with a 16-8 run to gain a two-set lead.  Tori Wright had five kills in that span for USciences, which recorded 16 kills in the set to overcome Goldey-Beacom amassing 12.
 
Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) overall had nine kills and four block assists, fellow sophomore Chelsey James (Cherry Hill, NJ) recorded nine kills, Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) had eight, fellow sophomore Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) dished 35 assists and junior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) added 22 digs for the Lightning (5-19, 2-13 CACC).
 
Spendlove now is at 770 assists for the fifth-best single-season total in program history.
 
Wright pounded 18 kills, Natalia Velez had 14, Angeli Roman Medina notched 18 assists, Caelin Jaskot recorded 17 and Lauren Lim totaled 13 digs for the Devils (11-15, 8-8).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Thursday against Jefferson for a 7:00 pm match.
