Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer’s Unbeaten Streak Halted With 5-2 Loss at Georgian Court

Two of the area's top teams again displayed quality play and talent, but Goldey-Beacom saw its five-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 5-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ.

Down 1-0 in the fourth minute, the Lightning battled back two minutes later.  Senior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE) took a pass from junior Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway), the reigning CACC Player of the Week, and found the back of the net for a 1-1 draw.

Kaitlin Lister gave the Lions a 2-1 halftime lead, scoring in the 21st minute off a pass from Anissia Fucci.

The Lightning needed the momentum back and once again turned to the two players who have provided it most of the campaign.  Fannon again was on the receiving end, getting another feed from Kristoffersen and scoring in the 54th minute for a 2-2 tie.

It was Fannon's 10th goal of the season, already tied for 10th on the school's single-season list, her fourth brace and extended her points streak to six games.  Fannon's 57 career points has her seventh in school annals and her 24 career goals put her eighth.

But Georgian Court got the final three goals for the win.  Krystal Hund scored the decider in the 62nd minute fore Shannon McRory tallied in the 83rd minute and Aliya Canfield found the back four minutes later.

Fannon and sophomore Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE) recorded four shots apiece with freshman Noel Talbot (Marriottsville, MD) making five saves for the Lightning (4-3-2, 3-1-1 CACC).

Canfield amassed eight shots and Alyssa Dias came up with three saves for the Lions (5-4-1, 3-1-1), who recorded a 28-10 shots edge.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday plays at Felician as part of a doubleheader with the men's squad in Lyndhurst, NJ.  The women's game is at 5:30 pm, followed by the men's contest at 8:00 pm.
