Volleyball Dealt 3-1 Loss at University of the Sciences

Goldey-Beacom put up a battle against University of the Sciences, only to be dealt a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback (16-25, 22-25, 26-24, 21-25) in Philadelphia, PA.

USciences in the opening set owned a 14-9 kills edge and notched a .333 hitting percentage.  The Devils in the second set got eight kills from Tori Wright, 17 as a team, notched a .424 percentage and ended the stanza on a 7-1 run.

Goldey-Beacom righted things in the third set, ending the stanza on a 6-2 run to get within one.  Junior Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) closed the set with 10 kills and no errors over 20 attacks with sophomore Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) adding six kills over 10 swings.

But the Devils held off a challenge from the Lightning in the fourth set, winning the stanza despite being on the wrong end of a 14-11 kills margin.  Bianca Galis and Natalia Velez had three kills apiece in the set for USciences.

Przywara closed with a season-high 27 kills and now stands at 981 career, moving her into second place in team history.  It is the sixth time this season she has posted at least 20 kills, all within the last seven matches.

Przywara, who leads the nation in attacks per set, earlier today was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for a third time this season.

Boyce amassed 13 kills, sophomore Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) pounded 11, sophomore Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) fell one short of a career best with 51 assists and junior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) added 24 digs for the Lightning (4-10, 1-5 CACC).
