Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Wins its Sixth Straight, 1-0, at Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom made its Sports Information Director scramble for the record books, winning its six straight and moving to its best Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference start in team history with a 1-0 victory at Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ.

The Lightning (8-3, 5-0 CACC) bested their 4-0-1 league start from 2016 and the overall winning streak is their longest since capturing seven straight in 2003.  The school record for longest winning streak is nine set back in 2001 and the top mark for an unbeaten streak is 10, set during the CACC championship season of 2017.

Goldey-Beacom is tied with Concordia (NY) with 15 points atop the CACC, but the latter is 5-1 with the former holding a game in hand.  The squads do not meet until October 19 in Bronxville, NY.

This also marks the ninth consecutive game the Lightning have not permitted more than one goal.

GBC, winners in three of its last four matches against Georgian Court, for the sixth time this season got on the board first.  Ethan Maguire (Sydney, Australia) had the ball on the right side and played a perfect cross for fellow junior Sergi Varona (Barcelona, Spain), who beat his defender and tapped it home for his second career goal.

Sophomore Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil), earlier today named the CACC Player of the Week, ended with four shots overall to help Goldey-Beacom gain a 12-8 first-half edge.  Junior Cole Lewis (Middletown, DE) made six saves, including one off a shot from Giovanni Ciocca-Vasino in the 89th minute.

Jamie Hickey amassed two saves for the Lions (3-7, 2-3).

Goldey-Beacom is back on the road Saturday to visit Felician.  Game time in Lyndhurst, NJ is at 8:00 pm, which follows the women's 5:30 match.
