Goldey-Beacom defeats Felician 1-0 in double over time in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Lyndhurst, NJ.
Goldey-Beacom and Felician both put up a fight remaining equal in the first half. Felician out shot Goldey-Beacom 3-2 but the score remained 0-0.
In the second half, both teams continued to battle but at the end of regulation, there was still no score to go to overtime. Goldey-Beacom out shot Felician in the second half 7-4.
In the first overtime, both continued to compete at a high level but once again, the score remained 0-0 to send it into a second overtime. The Lightning out shot Felician 3-1 in the first over time.
At the start of the second overtime, Goldey-Beacom had the only shot on goal and the squad made it count. Junior Ethan Maguire (Sydney, Australia) played the ball to junior Nicholas Ladeira (Johannesburg, South Africa) who found the back of the net. That was Laderia's first goal of the season and the goal that put the Lightning ahead 1-0 to win the game.
Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) had three shots, Sergi Varona (Barcelona, Spain), Levi Maruca (Downingtown, Pa.), Alejandro Varela (Cali, Colombia) and Ladeira all had two shots each for the Lightning.Â
Chris McLaughlin had three shots and Leo Yang had two shots for Felician.
Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Wednesday for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up against Holy Family at 3:30PM in Wilmington, DE.
