Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer’s Seven-Game Winning Streak Halted With 3-1 Loss to Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom found itself down just before halftime and could not recover, ending its seven-game winning streak with a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to Holy Family at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Holy Family in the first half took it to the home side with a 10-3 shots advantage that included seven shots on cage.  One of those shots came from Davis Habilaj, who got a pass from Georg Montag in the ninth minute and buried a 15-yard attempt for a 1-0 lead.

Goldey-Beacom got that back in the 25th minute.  Senior Levi Maruca (Downingtown, PA) won a wild scramble in front in which he took on several Tigers defenders and found the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

Holy Family then got the decider with 2:05 left in the first half on a crazy play.  Goalkeeper Mark Tobin booted one down the field that caught a gust of wind and found its way to Habilaj, who headed it in for his third goal of the season.

Sean Touey netted an insurance tally in the 79th minute off Hayden Pratt's assist, putting the cap on Goldey-Beacom's longest winning streak in 16 years.

Habilaj and Montag recorded four shots apiece for the Tigers (6-6, 4-3 CACC), who closed with a 15-8 edge.  Tobin ended with two saves.

Sophomore Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) attempted four shots and junior Cole Lewis (Middletown, DE) made six saves for the Lightning (9-4, 6-1).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday faces Concordia (NY), beginning at 2:30 pm.  The women's game between the same schools precedes it at noon.
