Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Defeats Dominican (NY) 2-1

Men's Soccer defeats Dominican (NY) 2-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Wilmington, DE.

In the firs half, Dominican (NY) took an early lead in the 14th minute when Jose Mendez played a through ball to Ewan Gray who placed the ball in the bottom left corner. 

With both teams continuing to fight, Goldey-Beacom equalized the game 1-1 in the 32nd minute when senior Steve Golding (Gosport, England) had a little pass to  sophomore Luis Martins (Curitiba, Brazil) who found the back of the net.

The game remained tied, 1-1, at the end of the first half. Goldey-Beacom and Dominican (NY) both had five shots each in the first half.

In the second half, the Lightning and Chargers battled back and forth to keep the game even. Goldey-Beacom pulled ahead in the 82nd minute when sophomore Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil)  finished the ball off a deflection to put the Lightning up 2-1 to win the game. 

Goldey-Beacom out shot Dominican (NY) 5-3 in the second half. 

Coimbra had three shots and Alejandro Varela (Cali, Columbia) had two shots for Goldey-Beacom. Cole Lewis (Middletown, DE) had three saves for the Lightning. 

Gray and Maximino Casares Martinez both had two shots each for Dominican (NY) and Tyler Doll had four saves.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Tuesday October 8 against Georgian Court at 3:30pm in Lakewood, NJ.
