Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Rolls, 5-0, at Concordia (NY)

Goldey-Beacom scored five goals for the fifth time this season and made it three straight victories with a 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph at Concordia (NY) in Bronxville, NY.

The Lightning (7-3-2, 6-1-1 CACC) only might have had a 1-0 lead at halftime, but the momentum was set in first half with the visitors owning a decided 16-2 shots edge.  Senior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE) had six shots in that time.

Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) put Goldey-Beacom on top in the 26th minute, getting a pass from fellow junior Ali Henriquez (Jersey City, NJ) and finding the back of the net.

Kristoffersen also was there in the 68th minute to make it 2-0.  Fannon put a shot on cage that was saved by goalkeeper Sophia Cogan, but Kristoffersen was there to pounce on the rebound for her 12th goal of the season and third brace.

Kiera Young (Havre de Grace, MD) tallied in the 75th minute of a great give-and-go from fellow junior Abbey Lombard (Lancaster, NY) to make it a 3-0 contest.  Fannon made it 4-0 in the 86th minute, getting a great feed from Henriquez on a breakaway and beating Cogan inside the left post.

Fannon netted the finale in the 90th minute for her sixth brace of the season off a pass from junior Emily Woolvin (Birmingham, England).  The former now is riding a nine-game points streak, during which she has scored a goal in eight of those contests.  Fannon also had a goal in each of her last five matches.

The play lately of Fannon truly is something that has to be appreciated.  In just her second season, Fannon unbelievably is tied for fourth in team annals with 29 career goals and sixth outright with 69 points.  Her 15 goals this season ties her with Alex Smith (2011) and Renee Brechter (2002) for the most in GBC history and her 34 points has her third.

Kristoffersen's 12 goals this season are tied for eighth in team history and her 31 points are tied for seventh.  She is riding a 10-game points streak and a has a goal in nine of those matches.

Fannon today closed with nine shots for the Lightning, who ended with a 17-8 edge.  Freshman Noel Talbot (Marriottsville, MD) only had to make one save.

Cogan ended with 12 saves for the Clippers (4-7-1, 2-5-1).

Goldey-Beacom also clinched a spot in the CACC Tournament for the sixth straight year, a first in team history.  The squad the last two seasons has advanced to the semifinals.

This marks the second time in team history GBC has scored at least five goals on five occasions in one year.  The 2015 unit also accomplished this.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday hits the road to face Jefferson in East Falls.  Game time is at 3:00 pm.
