Goldey-Beacom battled but was dealt a 3-0 loss (13-25, 22-25, 8-25) by Wilmington (DE) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Newark Delaware.Â
In set one, Wilmington took the early lead going on an eight point scoring streak. Goldey-Beacom continued to battle slowly closing the gap between them and the Wilmington. Sophomore Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, N.J.) had four kills in the first set for the Lightning.Â
In the second set, Goldey-Beacom fought back taking the first point. The Lightning gained a two point lead but Wilmington closed the gap quick. Goldey-Beacom and Wilmington continued to fight back and forth the entire set but Wilmington pulled away right at the end to take the last three points. Sophomore Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, N.J.) had six kills in set two.Â
In set three, Wilmington took the early lead and although the Lightning continued to battle, Wilmington took set three to win 3-0.
Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) had nine kills, Boyce had eight kills and Syrdahl had five kills for the Lightning. Sophomore Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, Nev.) had 23 assists for Goldey-Beacom.Â
Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Saturday against Nyack at 12pm in Nyack, NY.
