Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Notches 5-1 Victory Over Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom scored three first-half goals and played solid defense throughout in a 5-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Holy Family at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The matchup between two of the league's elite saw the Lightning grab a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.  Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) continued her scorching play by taking a cross from fellow junior Kiera Young (Havre de Grace, MD) and heading it home for her 10th goal of the season.

Senior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE), named this week to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, has been on a tear of late and that continued in the 36th minute.  Kristoffersen fed a long pass and Fannon put it inside the right post for a 2-0 GBC lead.

That looked like the halftime score, until the Lightning changed the crooked number with 20 seconds left.  Junior Ali Henriquez (Jersey City, NJ) had a touch in the box and the ball found its way to sophomore Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE), who put home a 15-yard shot for her second tally of the year.

Fannon in the second half netted her 13th goal of the season off a feed from junior Emily Woolvin (Birmingham, England), Hannah Derby scored for the Tigers in the 55th minute off Lena Staropoli's pass and GBC freshman Hanna Clarke (Earleville, MD) tallied in the 80th minute off Fannon's pass for the final.

Fannon simply can not be playing any better, owning an eight-game points streak that includes a goal in seven of those contests.  She is tied for fifth in school history with 27 career goals, sixth overall with 64 career points, tied for fifth with 13 goals this year and ninth outright with 29 points this season.

Kristoffersen's 27 points this season is tied for 10th in team annals.

Amid all of the record-book scrambling, Kristoffersen today had three shots and freshman Noel Talbot (Marriottsville, MD) amassed eight saves for the Lightning (6-3-2, 5-1-1 CACC).

Derby recorded five shots and Brianna Pudlo had two saves for the Tigers (5-6, 5-2).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday plays at Concordia (NY), beginning at noon.
