Goldey-Beacom Volleyball Notches 3-0 Triumph Over Dominican



Goldey-Beacom jumped to an early lead on Dominican (NY) and was in control throughout for a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory (25-16, 25-12, 25-9) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Lightning in the first set dominated with a .444 hitting percentage thanks to 16 kills and just four errors over 27 attacks.  Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) amassed seven kills in the set with fellow sophomore Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) adding four.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the second kept it going with a 12-5 kills edge and a .269 percentage, compared to -.069 for Dominican.  The third set saw the Lightning record a .312 percentage with seven kills, compared to a -.100 percentage and six errors for the Chargers.
 
Boyce ended with 14 kills and just one error over 23 swings for a .565 percentage, helping the Lightning to their fourth victory in the last five meetings with the Chargers.  Sophomore Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) recorded 26 assists and junior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) added 13 digs for GBC (5-11, 2-6 CACC).
 
Emmalyn LaPier and Deanna Knopf had five kills apiece, Essence Boyd dished seven assists and Jasmine Ramirez-Alfaro contributed seven digs for the Chargers (0-14, 0-8).
 
Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday embarks on a three-match road trip as it battles Wilmington (DE).  First serve in Newark is at 7:00 pm.
