Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Matches its Best Start With 6-0 Win Over Felician

Sophomore Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE) scored twice in the opening half and senior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) added a brace of her own in the second half for Goldey-Beacom, which matched the best start in team history with a 6-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph over Felician at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Speaks in the 20th minute got her first of the game by rebounding a shot from junior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE) that was saved and buried it for a 1-0 lead.  Speaks' fourth goal of the season came in the 38th minute, pouncing on a rebound of a shot from freshman Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE) that slipped out of the goalkeeper's hands.

Speaks now has 17 career goals, already moving her into a tie for eighth place in team annals.  It also is her sixth career brace.

Fannon netted her second of the year just 2:22 into the second half, putting home a 15-yard shot off a pass from junior Samantha Carey (Marilla, NY) for a 3-0 margin.  Crammond scored on a 25-yard shot in the 61st minute and then converted a 25-yard free kick 18 minutes later for her fourth goal of the year, third career brace and a 5-0 game.

Immediato then matched Speaks with her fourth goal of the campaign, taking Crammond's corner kick and nudging it home in the 81st minute.

Crammond now stands tied for fifth in team history with 55 points, sixth outright with 21 goals and tied for seventh with 13 assists.

The Lightning recorded a 26-5 shots advantage that included a staggering 15-0 in the first half.  Immediato closed with seven shots and Crammond had six that included four on frame.

Jamie Kazenmayer came up with eight saves over 71 minutes for the Golden Falcons (0-3, 0-1 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom (4-0, 1-0) also opened the 2016 campaign 4-0, also just giving up two goals in that time.  It also marks the fourth straight year the squad won its conference opener.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday is in action for a road league game at Holy Family, starting at 4:00 pm in Philadelphia.
