Cross Country Takes Part in the Dutchmen Invitational

Goldey-Beacom took part in what has been a competitive meet for many years with the women's cross country squad finishing eighth and the men closing ninth at the Dutchmen Invitational in Lebanon, PA.

The women's unit sent 11 to the race and for the second straight week were paced by junior Alivia Gillard (Manchester, England), who closed 46th in 22:06.28. Senior Mary Ann Jones (Frederick, MD) was 54th in 23:25.57, senior Juana Henao (Bogota, Colombia) closed one spot back in 23:50.18, sophomore Cara Jones (Wilmington, DE) finished 61st in 24:46.78 and junior Taylor McKinney (Wilmington, DE) was 64th in 25:30.20.

The Lightning ended the meet with 280 points as only the top five runners score. Lebanon Valley won its own invitational with 28 points.

The men's outfit again was sparked by senior Jono Hooper (Brisbane, Australia), who closed 10th overall by covering the 8,000 meters in 27:15.33. Senior Victor Rueda-Jimenez (Milford, DE) ended 35th in 29:11.96, sophomore Jason Hyland (Audubon, NJ) closed 47th in 30:22.44, sophomore Chauncey Nichols (New Castle, DE) was 55th in 31:03.49 and senior Ronald Prescott (Delaware Tech CC) finished 71st in 35:33.74.

GBC scored 218 points and Juniata won with 40.

Goldey-Beacom on September 21 is at Carousel Park in Wilmington for its annual GBC Fall Classic. The women's race is at 9:00 am and the men go at 9:45 am.
