Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls, 2-1, to Caldwell

Goldey-Beacom gave up a late goal and saw its three-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to Caldwell at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Caldwell wasted little time by scoring in the fifth minute for a 1-0 lead.  Joaquin Escudero put a through ball in the box that Martin Muller tapped home to open the scoring.

Sophomore Kamran Khan (Blackburn, England) got his first collegiate goal to level the contest in the sixth minute.  Junior Levi Maruca (Downingtown, PA) fed a pass to Kahn from 10 yards out and the latter put it home for a 1-1 game.

A struggle for control then ensued with extra time looming.  Muller put an end to that with exactly 17 minutes left, getting another pass Escudero and putting a 10-yard shot inside the right post for his second goal of the season.

GBC had a couple of good chances in the 89th minute with sophomore Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) and Maruca each getting shots on net, but Nils Svere came up with saves on each.

Freshman Josh Moody (Townsend, DE) came off the bench with four shots and senior Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) had five saves for the Lightning (3-7-1, 2-3-1 CACC).

Muller had three shots and Svere made five saves for the Cougars (4-5-1, 4-1-1).

Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday hosts Georgian Court at 4:00 pm.
