Men’s Soccer Falls, 3-2, to No. 17 Georgian Court



Goldey-Beacom fell short, 3-2, in a
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against 17th-ranked Georgian Court at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Goldey-Beacom struck first in the 15th minute when junior Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) made a pass on a fast break to sophomore Nicholas Ladeira (Johannesburg, South Africa), who placed the ball into the back of the net. Georgian Court quickly responded in the 29th minute with a free kick. Vinicius Monteiro played the ball into the box and Jonathan Firmino headed the ball into the back of the net.

Georgian Court went ahead in the 56th minute when Quentin Bouly ripped a shot from 25 yards to make it a 2-1 game. The Lightning fought back in the 78th minute when Jaramillo placed the ball on the foot of sophomore Joe Scarpinato (Middletown, Del.), who placed the ball inside the left post. Georgian Court wasted no time. In the 79th minute, Bouly got the ball to Louis Silva who ripped a shot under the crossbar to put Georgian Court ahead 3-2 to win the game.

Ladeira, Kamran Khan (Blackburn, England) and Sergi Varona (Barcelona, Spain) all attempted two shots each for the Lightning. Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) made eight saves for Goldey-Beacom.

Daniel Vivente attempted four shots with Dan Chochlinski and Monteiro both attempting three shots for Georgian Court. Jamie Hickey made two saves for Georgian Court.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Saturday, October 6 for a doubleheader with the women's team against Bloomfield in Bloomfield, NJ. The women kick off at 1:30 pm and the men kick off at 3:45 pm.
