Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Notches 2-0 Blanking of New York Tech

Goldey-Beacom received a tough battle from New York Tech before getting two goals in the final 10 minutes for a 2-0 triumph at Hockessin Soccer Club in Hockessin, DE.

A strong tussle by two quality teams left the scoreboard with goose eggs most of the way.  That was until the 81st minute, when senior Mariano Pereira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) put away a corner kick from freshman Josh Moody (Townsend, DE) for his first goal of the season and second career.

Moody again was on the spot in the 85th minute for a 2-0 Lightning cushion.  He corralled the ball and fed a pass to sophomore Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil), who blasted home a 15-yard shot for his second goal of the campaign.

GBC (3-6-1) made it stand with a 13-12 shots edge to run its unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1).  Sophomore Joe Scarpinato (Middletown, DE) had two shots and senior Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) made two saves for his second straight shutout and 14th career.

Xavi Senlik came off the bench to record two shots and Andrew Pereira amassed four saves for the Bears (5-2-1).

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Caldwell at 3:30 pm.  The women's game between the same schools precedes it at 1:00 pm.
