Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Battles to 3-0 Win at Post

Goldey-Beacom got an early goal and fought off a strong challenge from Post in a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory in Waterbury, CT.

The Lightning, the reigning league champions, wasted little time in a rematch of last year's conference semifinals.  Junior Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) kept his strong season going by scoring in the 12th minute for his team-leading fourth goal of the year and a 1-0 lead.

GBC made it 2-0 in the 36th minute as junior Levi Maruca (Downingtown, NJ) tallied his second of the campaign.

Post revved up the intensity in the second half by getting 15 shots to Goldey-Beacom's eight.  But the Lightning made sure the lead would hold, thanks to senior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) scoring off a pass from freshman Alejandro Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) in the 76th minute for the final.

Aghrim now has 64 career points, moving into a tie with Dan DiGiacobbe (2001-04) for fourth place in team history.

Aghrim had four shots and senior Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) recorded two saves for the Lightning (2-6-1, 2-2-1 CACC).

Alvaro Sanchez recorded four shots with David Mollenthiel making three saves for the Eagles (3-4, 2-1).
