Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Gives Post a Battle in 3-1 Loss

Goldey-Beacom in the fourth set made an incredible comeback to even the stanza, only to fall short in a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (20-25, 25-22, 16-25, 23-25) to Post at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Goldey-Beacom in the second set evened things by getting 13 kills with only three errors for a stunning .417 hitting percentage.  Sophomore Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) recorded five kills and no errors over nine attacks in that time with freshmen Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) and Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) each getting four kills over six attacks.

The Eagles dominated play in the third set with a .214 percentage thanks to 10 kills and just four errors.  Shannon Veale and Ann Marie Nelson recorded three kills apiece.

Post in the fourth set looked in control with a 21-11 lead before GBC took all of the momentum, using a 12-2 run to forge a 23-23 tie.  Przywara was the catalyst with three kills in that span and Syrdahl had two.

But the Eagles prevailed as Ashley Levatino's kill set up match point, in which the visitors took advantage of a Lightning attack error for the final.

Przywara, twice this season named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, had 17 kills and 10 digs for her third double-double of the year and second straight.  Boyce had 12 kills and nine digs, senior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished 26 assists with freshman Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) adding 15 for GBC (2-10, 0-3 CACC)

Madison Hunziker pounded 16 kills to go with 11 digs, Rylie Arms had 10 kills, Brianna Root dished 39 assists and Suzy Boulay added 17 digs for Eagles (5-8, 2-0).

Goldey-Beacom is back at it Saturday when it visits Felician for a 1:00 pm match in Rutherford, NJ.
