Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Falls to West Chester and Fairmont State

Goldey-Beacom opened its time at Ramfest with a 3-0 loss (13-25, 16-25, 13-25) to West Chester before a tough 3-2 setback (20-25, 25-12, 25-23, 17-25, 12-15) against Fairmont State in West Chester, PA.

Goldey-Beacom began things against West Chester, which perennially has been a tough opponent.  The Lightning did their best, but were on the wrong end of a 33-12 kills edge with the home side recording a .253 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) recorded six kills and nine digs, Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished nine assists, fellow senior Megann Santiago (Levittown, NY) notched 10 digs and sophomore Courtney Bublitz (North East, MD) added nine.

Julia Vreeswyk pounded eight kills, Jillian Grammer notched 21 assists and Nicki Yates contributed 20 digs for the Golden Rams (0-3).

Goldey-Beacom in the second set of its battle with Fairmont State went on a tear to level the match at one.  A .444 hitting percentage in the set was helped in large part due to freshman Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ), who had five kills and a .571 percentage in that span.

The Fighting Falcons only totaled a -.045 percentage in the set.

Przywara was a force in the third set for GBC, amassing five kills for a .308 hitting percentage with Boyce adding four kills.  The defense held Fairmont State to just a .122 percentage.

But the fifth set provided heartbreak as the Lightning yielded an 11-1 run to end things.  Fairmont State had a .312 percentage in the set with only two errors and GBC hit .048 with five errors.

Przywara pounded 19 kills and Boyce notched 15 and 14 digs for her first collegiate double-double.  Florence recorded 22 assists and freshman Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) added 18 for the Lightning (1-5).

Rebecca Feeney notched 11 kills and a .348 percentage, Emma Mobley amassed 10 kills and 10 digs with Julia DiPaola adding 15 digs for the Fighting Falcons (2-2).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday heads back to West Chester University to play Franklin Pierce at 10:00 am and Salem at noon.
