Men’s Basketball Standout Dante Thompson Signs With CB Cazorla

Dante Thompson (Coram, NY) had a beyond successful career with Goldey-Beacom's men's basketball team and now he gets to play in Spain after signing with CB Cazorla in the EBA League.

Thompson made a huge splash in the post last season in being picked third team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and third team City of Basketball Love. His intense play in the paint and solid rebounding not to mention his thunderous dunks all were critical for the Lightning in making the CACC semifinals.

Thompson last season ended 70th in the nation with 8.1 rebounds per game, 86th with 236 rebounds, 27th in the league with 12.4 points per contest and 17th with 84 free throws. He also scored in double figures 22 times and notched six double-doubles.

Over his two strong seasons, Thompson departed 19th in team history with 705 career points and fifth with 415 career rebounds.

All of this helped Goldey-Beacom (20-10, 15-4 CACC) last season tie the school record for most victories, marking the fourth time it has done this, and notch back-to-back 20-win seasons for the second time in program history (2009-10, 2010-11). The Lightning won 11 of their last 13 contests en route to winning the CACC South Division.

Thompson becomes the second player this year for Goldey-Beacom to sign a contract in the EBA League. Elijah Tillman will be competing this season for Basquet Stiges.
