Volleyball Already Takes Home Two CACC Weekly Awards

With the first weekend of the volleyball season in the books, Goldey-Beacom grabbed two weekly honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) named Rookie of the Week and sophomore Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) picked to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Boyce posted 31 kills over three matches at the Kutztown Classic. She pounded 17 kills Thursday against Salem in her first collegiate match, nine Friday afternoon against New York Tech and five that night at Kutztown.

Przywara ended with 40 kills, 26 digs and five service aces in the three matches. She totaled 18 kills and nine digs Friday afternoon against New York Tech after notching 16 and nine Thursday vs. Salem.

For Przywara, it was the first match back for the 2016 CACC Rookie of the Year after missing all last season due to injury.

The Lightning opened their season Thursday with a 3-1 triumph over Salem before losses Friday to New York Tech and Kutztown. GBC enters the season with plenty of optimism after closing fourth in the CACC South Division last season and picked to accomplish the same this year.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Wednesday at Millersville for a 7:00 pm match.
