Volleyball Gets Back in Gear With 3-0 Victory Over Felician

Goldey-Beacom, engaged in a tight contest against Felician that could have gone either way, snapped its three-match skid with a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Watching the match made one witness two teams ranked in the unofficial top-10 East Region rankings that almost seemed like equals.  The stat sheet said otherwise with Goldey-Beacom owning a 43-31 kills advantage and a .234-.099 edge in attack percentage.

Goldey-Beacom (14-6, 6-3 CACC) unofficially is ranked seventh in the East and Felician (14-9, 6-3), which had its five-match winning streak snapped, is eighth.

The opening set was level at 18 before the Lightning closed things on a 7-2 run to finish the stanza hitting .278.  The second saw the Golden Falcons ahead 18-17 before an 8-5 run from the home side ended it, courtesy of two kills from senior Kloë Waymel (Mulhouse, France).

A 9-4 run in the third set closed the match with sophomore Alana Scott (Gaithersburg, MD) and Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) notching two kills apiece.

Gingras had 13 kills and seven digs, senior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) and sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) amassed eight kills apiece, junior Brianna Anderson (Mesa, AZ) notched 13 digs and Scott added 10.  Junior Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) recorded 18 assists and 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the campaign with sophomore Ashley Fru (Brandywine, MD) getting 12 and 11 for her third.

Fullwood added five blocks and now is eighth in school history with 159.

Sandra Galas did all she could for Felician with nine kills, eight digs, four aces.  Bentley Rone dished 14 assists.

Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday visits Chestnut Hill for a 7:00 pm match.
