(2018 spring schedule)

The two-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion Goldey-Beacom
women's tennis team once again puts an undefeated mark on the line as the unit revealed its 2018 schedule.

The highlight of the schedule will see the squad compete in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year and seventh time overall.  The Lightning (11-0, 8-0 CACC) play their first match either April 28 or 29, depending on whether they receive a first-round bye.  The match will take place a site to be determined, which will be announced April 24.

GBC only plays two home matches, both of which take place the first week of the season.  The squad hosts Millersville on March 19 and West Chester the next day, both at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington.

Five road matches end the regular season, including Indiana (PA) on March 23, Slippery Rock the next day and the District of Columbia on April 4.  GBC on April 6 visits Queens (NY) in a rematch of last season's second-round NCAA Tournament setback and then visits New York Tech, also a "Sweet 16" participant last season, on April 13.

GBC enters the spring ranked second in the ITA East Region with Queens (NY) first and New York Tech fifth.  Indiana (PA) is 24th in the country, Slippery Rock is fifth in the ITA Atlantic Region and West Chester is 10th.

Goldey-Beacom defeated Wilmington (DE), 5-3, on October 22 for its second consecutive league crown.  The squad was the top seed in the CACC Tournament for the second straight year, has won 17 consecutive regular-season league matches dating to 2015, appeared in the conference final in back-to-back years for the first time since going three straight seasons from 2009-11 and equaled its best start in team history.

GBC also enters the spring with four of its players ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region rankings.  Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) is ranked ninth in singles, fellow freshman Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) is 11th and sophomore Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) is 12th.  Lesscher y Post and Zheng are fourth in the region in doubles with Hortelano Pey and freshman Fredrika Regner (Langaryd, Sweden) sixth.

Lesscher y Post was picked second team All-CACC during a fall in which she and Zheng teamed to go 12-2 in doubles which included 9-1 at first doubles, 6-1 in the conference and advance to the ITA East Region semifinals.  Lesscher y Post, named the CACC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, also went 7-4 in singles, 5-3 at number one singles, 3-3 in the league and reached the last 16 of the ITA East Region Tournament.

Zheng was tabbed first team all-league thanks to her 12-1 singles mark, including 8-0 at second singles, 8-0 vs. the CACC and a berth in the ITA East Region quarterfinals.  She notched all of her victories in straight sets and also was a member of the CACC All-Tournament Team.

Hortelano Pey teamed with Regner to go 15-2 at doubles – tying the school record for most wins in a season – 9-1 at second doubles and earn a berth in the ITA East Region final.  The former went 12-2 in singles that included 7-1 at No. 3 singles, was picked first team all-league a second straight year, made the CACC All-Tournament Team and advanced to the ITA East Region semifinals.

Regner was tabbed the league's Rookie of the Year, going 10-3 in the fall that included 7-2 at fourth singles and 7-1 vs. the league.  She opened the year 5-0 at singles and recorded nine of her victories in straight sets.
