Goldey-Beacom freshman Sarah Round (Northampton, England) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week with senior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) picked to the Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

Round went on a tear during her first collegiate games, averaging 23.0 points on 54 percent shooting (13-of-24) with 10 three-pointers.  She scored 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting with five 3-pointers and blocked a potential game-winning three-point attempt in Goldey-Beacom's 69-67 victory Friday over Franklin Pierce.  Round then had 26 points on 6-of-11 shooting with five 3-pointers, five rebounds and four steals in a 67-62 victory Saturday over American International.

The victories gave the Lightning (2-0) their best start since the 2012-13 season.

Taite averaged 20.5 points on 50 percent shooting (14-of-28) to go with 10 rebounds and eight assists over two games.  He had a great game Sunday against sixth-ranked Saint Anselm, scoring 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting with five 3-pointers, five rebounds and five assists.  Taite also had 10 points, five rebounds and three assists Saturday at Bentley.

Taite looks to a solid final campaign after last year being picked the CACC Player of the Year, first team NABC All-East Region, first team CCA All-East Region, a member of the CACC All-Tournament Team.  He is fourth in school history with 1,277 points, second with 326 free throws, third with 153 three-pointers, fourth with 276 assists, fourth with 168 steals, fourth with 399 field goals and seventh with 398 rebounds.

His play last season helped Goldey-Beacom (20-10, 15-4 CACC) win the CACC South Division and tie the school record for most victories to mark the fourth time it has done this.  It also notched back-to-back 20-win seasons for the second time in program history (2009-10, 2010-11), advanced to the CACC Tournament semifinals and won 11 of its last 13 contests.

The men's team is on the road Wednesday at Saint Thomas Aquinas for a 7:00 pm game.  The women are home Thursday at 6:00 pm to face Bridgeport.
