Volleyball Falls to Jefferson University 3-1



Goldey-Beacom battled, but fell short 3-1 (11-25, 18-25, 25-21, 11-25) to Jefferson University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Philadelphia, PA.

Goldey-Beacom battled in the first set, but Jefferson pulled ahead by going on a six-point scoring streak. Jefferson had 12 kills to Goldey-Beacom's seven

Goldey-Beacom in the second set again gave its best, but Jefferson again pulled ahead on another six-point scoring streak to go up two sets.


The Lightning fought back to take set three with 13 kills and a .229 hitting percentage. Goldey-Beacom held Jefferson to 11 kills and a .111 hitting percentage in the third set.

Goldey-Beacom fell short in the fourth set when Jefferson went on a five-point scoring streak that helped it clinch the match.

Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, N.J.) had 13 kills, fellow freshman Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, N.J.) amassed nine and freshman Chelsey James (Cherry Hill, N.J.) had six for the Lightning. Senior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, Va.) recorded 16 assists and freshman Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, Nev.) had 14.  Spendlove also had 15 digs with sophomore Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, N.J.) and Florence getting 12 each for the Lightning.

Courtney Wensel had 10 kills and Mariah Cadzow had eight for Jefferson. Alexandra Harrington had 26 assists to help her team get the win. Alexis Leddy had 13 digs and Cadzow had 10 for Jefferson.

Goldey-Beacom is home on Saturday against Wilmington University at noon in the Joseph West Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
