Volleyball Battles in 3-0 Loss to Wilmington



Goldey-Beacom put up one of its toughest fights of the season in battling its local rival, but was handed a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (19-25, 16-25, 23-25) by Wilmington (DE) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Lightning won long rallies and continued to show the battle of a squad with talent both among veterans and newcomers.  Goldey-Beacom finished with 35 kills, but was undone by Wilmington's 42.
 
Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) recorded 19 kills and a .241 hitting percentage, fellow freshman Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) had 14 assists and 11 digs for her fifth straight double-double, senior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished 18 assists, senior Megann Santiago (Levittown, NY) had 11 digs and sophomore Courtney Bublitz (North East, MD) added 10 for GBC (4-18, 2-11 CACC).
 
Bailey Andrews pounded 11 kills, Rebecca Rawlinson had 10, Jill Braunsberg notched 23 assists, Jenna Brown recorded 16 digs and Mandy Behiels added 11 for the Wildcats (16-9, 10-3).
 
Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday is on the road to visit Chestnut Hill for a 7:00 pm match in Philadelphia, PA.
