Volleyball Falls, 3-1, to Chestnut Hill



Volleyball battled but fell short to Chestnut Hill 3-1 (17-25, 21-25, 25-22, 14-25) in Philadelphia, PA.

In the first set, Goldey-Beacom started out strong by going on a four-point scoring streak. Chestnut Hill answered later in the set going on a seven-point scoring streak which helped it take the set. Chestnut Hill recorded 12 kills and had a .250 hitting percentage. The Lightning had seven kills and a .067 hitting percentage.

The Lightning and the Griffins battled back and forth in the second set, but Chestnut Hill came out on top. Chestnut Hill had 14 kills and Goldey-Beacom had nine. Goldey-Beacom kept the game alive in set three going on a seven-point scoring streak to come back and win the set. Goldey-Beacom recorded 12 kills and a .167 hitting percentage. The Lightning fell in the third set 14-25 giving Chestnut Hill a 3-1 win.

Sophomore Lindsay Pryzwara (Williamstown, N.J.) had 14 kills and freshman Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, N.J.) had 12 kills. Senior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA.) had 17 assists and freshman Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, Nev.) had 12 for the Lightning. Florence also recorded 13 digs and Spendlove had eight digs for Goldey-Beacom.

Reily Byxbee had 17 kills and Cassie Callahan had 11 kills for Chestnut Hill. Kennedy Sutton had 37 assists, Byxbee had 18 digs and Kerri Sullivan had 11 digs for Chestnut Hill.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Saturday at home vs. Nyack at noon.
