Volleyball Guts Out 3-2 Win Over Nyack



In a match that easily could have gone either way, Goldey-Beacom prevailed in the final two sets for a 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win (25-16, 26-28, 21-25, 26-24, 15-9) over Nyack at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The fifth set was level at six before the Lightning went on a 6-0 run to open a 12-6 lead.  Sophomore Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) again played solidly with two kills in the run, freshman Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) had one and senior Megann Santiago (Levittown, NY) recorded an ace.
 
Przywara and freshman Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) had three kills each in the set, Syrdahl recorded two, senior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished seven assists and sophomore Courtney Bublitz (North East, MD) amassed four digs.  GBC (5-19, 3-12) totaled nine kills in the set and a .269 hitting percentage.
 
Przywara closed the match with 17 kills and 12 digs for her ninth double-double of the year to go with a .245 hitting percentage.  Boyce pounded 25 kills, Florence totaled 31 assists and 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season, freshman Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) notched 18 assists and Bublitz added 10 digs.
 
Rachel Medin amassed 46 assists and 13 digs, Kyra Zuhlke had 17 kills, Megan Ma'afala-Maiava totaled 13, Larreya Hayden notched 10 and British Dawson recorded 21 digs for the Warriors (10-14, 9-6).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday opens a four-match road trip as it visits University of the Sciences.  Match time in Philadelphia is 7:00 pm.
