Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Falls, 3-0, to University of the Sciences

Goldey-Beacom made a stunning comeback in the third set and looked like it would extend the match to a fourth, only to be handed a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (18-25, 24-26, 23-25) by University of the Sciences at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The second set produced the first bit of drama with both teams getting 14 kills, but Brooke Witmer had a kill for USciences to make it 25-24 and Sarah Miller closed the set with a kill of her own.  Witmer and Miller each had six kills in the set.

The third set saw the Lightning down 16-8 before they went on a 14-5 run to open a 22-21 lead.  Sophomore Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ), this week named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll a fourth time this season, amassed four kills in that span.

The Devils then got the score to 23-23 before Danielle Taylor served an ace and the visitors benefitted from an attack error to end it.

Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) had 14 assists and 11 digs for her second straight double-double, fellow freshman Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) pounded 12 kills, freshman Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) had 10 and senior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished 13 assists for the Lightning (3-16, 1-9 CACC).

Miller recorded 14 kills, Caelin Jaskot notched 29 assists, Rhiannon Comia totaled 14 digs and Danielle Taylor added 10 for the Devils (5-11, 4-6).

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against reigning CACC champion Caldwell for a noon match at the Jones Center.
