Shayla Boyce Named CACC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Another solid week for Goldey-Beacom freshman Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) has seen her named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week for a second time.

Boyce pounded 37 kills over two matches last week to go with eight aces and 10 digs. She had 25 kills, six digs, seven aces and a .293 hitting percentage Saturday against Nyack after recording 12 kills and four digs Wednesday at Chestnut Hill.

Boyce has been one of the key additions for the team at right side. She is 77th in the country with 302 kills, fifth in the league with 3.39 kills per set, fifth with 347 points, seventh with 36 aces and 10th with 0.4 aces per set.

She has notched six double-doubles this season and is just 13 kills away from reaching the school's single-season top 10 list.

Boyce also was named Rookie of the Week on August 27 and was picked to the league's Weekly Honor Roll on September 24, October 8 and October 15.

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday begins a four-match road trip at University of the Sciences. The match in Philadelphia starts at 7:00 pm.
